Barry and Ali look forward to hosting their guests at Western Rivers Lodge, which they built specifically with New Zealand's best fly fishing in mind.
The lodge which is set in 7 acres of native bush and gardens is north facing for all day sun and spectacular views down the Maruia valley and Victoria range beyond.
Our guests are accommodated in private chalets with en suite bathrooms and spacious well appointed bed and living areas. The two queen-size beds are extremely comfortable and combined with our quiet location ensure an excellent nights rest. After the fishing day relax on the veranda to enjoy the views and the company of the inquisitive locals - Bush Robins and Fantails, just some of the native birds that are attracted to the garden.
All meals are enjoyed in the main lodge which comprises the comfortable lounge, bar and dining room. Savour the aromas from Ali's kitchen as you gather at the bar for appetizers, pre-dinner drinks and the days fishing tales.
With ready access the the finest quality fresh meats, seafood and vegetables that New Zealand is renowned for, Ali will prepare exquisite meals which give classic cuisine that "Kiwi" touch. Lamb and venison, scallops, mussels and salmon served with salad greens and herbs fresh from the garden will appear on the menu which changes daily. Any special dietary requests can be catered for, just let us know. New Zealand's reputation for wines of excellence is known worldwide and we have a selection of fine NZ wines to complement our menus.
